Controls and Power Electronics COE, a subset of GE Energy Engineering Division, is a cutting edge designer and developer of Controls Systems and Drives and Controls Systems for applications such as Turbine Control, Automation Control, and Plant Control. The Controls COE serves markets such as thermal, wind, oil and gas, hydro and solar energy.
We would like to strengthen the Controls & Power Electronics Center of Excellence in the US with a local European team and are looking for a motivated Mechanical Systems Engineer. Essential Responsibilities Responsible for electro-mechanical system design of power conversion products. This includes: - Review and analyze product applications and flowdown requirements - Define electro-mechanical requirements for power converter products - Develop power converter product concepts using modeling, simulation, and statistical design methods - Evaluate, select, and apply appropriate technology and components - Define test and validation requirements - Document design configuration, principles of operation, and application guidelines - Document design intent for product manufacture - Ensure product robustness
Ensure product meets all program requirements including cost, performance, and reliability.
Responsible for technical direction and decisions for assigned product development projects. Work with a multi-disciplinary engineering development team that includes controls engineering, power conversion design, mechanical design, PWA design, and Integration/Test.
Work with the project leader to ensure appropriate resources and timing. |

Significant experience in electro-mechanical systems design BS Degree in Engineering, BSME preferred Working knowledge of CAD (Pro-E, Unigraphics, Autocad, etc) and simulation tools (ANSYS, FloTherm, etc.) Experience working with various agency certifications, codes, and standards Exhibits Lab safety practices. Excellent written and oral commuincation skills in both English and French Preferred: MSME degree. Experience in electro-mechanical design of power conversion products. Experience designing high power phase-controlled SCR bridges, and/or high power PWM inverters using IGBT’s or IGCT’s. Familiarity with low & medium voltage insulation systems-partial discharge theory and testing methods. Experience with design for six-sigma, design for reliability, design for manufacturability and design to cost. |
