Lead development of new or improved microbial strains and strain blends for manufacture of yogurt products. Develop plans, design experimental work, collect experimental data and perform data analysis to effectively execute project work ; Provide support to internal and external customers by conducting research to develop solutions to technical problems. Collaborate with regional application laboratories to develop data to support product functionality and performance and explore opportunities to provide customers with solutions. Develop working relationships with Product Line Management, Business Development personnel, Commercial Team members and CTS Dairy Applications to align project work with strategy and customer focus. Apply technical and business knowledge to generate ideas for new product development and other business opportunities ; Interface with PPD, Product Line Management, Business Development, Operations, Sales and Technical support functions to finalize development and successfully launch new products. This includes participating in launch planning, developing Operations SOP's for product manufacture, assisting in the development of QA test procedures, providing technical information for the development of product data sheets and brochures, training technical sales and attending customer sales visits and trials as requested ; Develop and maintain project documentation, write project reports and communicate results to internal and external customers ; Serve as a technical expert both internally within Cargill and externally to customers on Cargill yogurt cultures. Remain up-to-date in the field of yogurt microbiology and manufacturing technology by attending appropriate conventions/meetings and participating in industry and specialty related organizations.

REQUIRED MS in microbiology and 6 years dairy industry experience with proven track record or Ph.D. in microbiology with supporting knowledge in dairy product chemistry and/or texture and 2 years dairy industry experience, preferably in yogurt culture development and/or yogurt manufacture ; Excellent written and oral communication skills with a proficiency in English ; Competency in microbiology/food microbiology laboratory skills, experimental design, and statistics ; Excellent organizational and scientific project management skills ; Ability to both lead and work as part of a team ; Ability to communicate with internal and external customers to provide technical support, solve problems and develop growth opportunities. Provide alignment with key strategic business initiatives and recommend and initiate research projects to support.
WANT Knowledge of Western and Eastern European Fresh Dairy products (non-yogurt), experience in fresh dairy product manufacture and/or knowledge of fresh dairy microbiology/flavor/texture measurement ; Previous industrial experience in the application and manufacture of microbial cultures. |
