Assistant Functional Specialist in HR Applications
Under the immediate supervision of the Chief of Unit, the incumbent supports the development and
maintenance of HR applications and systems, as well as recommends improvements to currently existing
systems and applications in order to facilitate the daily work of system and application users. To this end, he
or she will be responsible for following duties:

• Communicate with team, Internal Process Owners and End-Users to obtain necessary information
on requirements and present it in an appropriate form.
• Assist the design and implementation of in-house HR application functionalities and interfaces.
o Prepare the specifications for development within the area of responsibility.
o Create reports and interfaces, using the standard SAP tools, as well as ABAP
programming.
o Test the solution once it has been put in place.
o Prepare and update the working documentation, such as the Description of the Solution
Design, the Descriptions of the development, Training materials, and End-User Scripts.
• Assist in the preparation, design, development, implementation and maintenance of in-house HR
application workflow.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit and systems analysis for in-house projects.
• Provide instructions, advice and training to users. Exchange information and participate in
knowledge-sharing sessions in order to remain up-to-date in new developments in the field of
information technology and how such advances might be adapted to address UNESCO's
technological needs.

• Advanced university degree in Computer Systems/Design or Information Technology. A
combination of relevant professional qualifications/certifications and experience (minimum 4 years)
in the field of IT development may be taken into consideration in lieu of advanced degree.
• Minimum 2 to 4 years of progressively responsible work experience in similar fields, including a
minimum of preferably 1 year acquired at the international level.
• At least 2 years experience in SAP HR and significant experience in developing, implementing and
testing applications, including .Net technology is required.
• Knowledge of UNESCO HR, SAP NPO version, and Office tools is desirable.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Excellent knowledge of English or French; knowledge of the other language would be an asset.
