Deep scientific and business intelligence expertise is merged with industry knowledge to model and optimize business performance. The Research Scientist is responsible for developing and executing mathematical modeling, advanced analytics and business insights required to support projects. Responsibilities include consulting with customers as well as the creation, service productization and delivery of proposed solutions to clients. In this role, the Research Scientist will work directly with other team members to bridge technical needs with science and define how proposed solutions will be presented and delivered to clients. The Research Scientist will also be involved in the definition and development of back-end processes and infrastructure to support the solutions. This will require the ability to formulate a scientific approach, model historical data, analyze, assess results and adjust as appropriate. This position requires the ability to work and communicate in a high performance team, and recommend solutions to internal and external issues. Industry-specific experience in Retail, CP, Oil & Gas, Finance or Public Sector is desired.
- Execute billable projects, which includes developing new mathematical algorithms and business solutions with customers, as well as providing business insights and advice resulting from modeling, scenario analysis and optimization – support project manager in developing project activities, tasks, and delivery milestones
- Identify new solutions and improve existing solutions – support scientific innovation and tackle unsolved business problems
- Support business development, sales and marketing activities |

- In addition to a strong scientific and technical background, the position requires strong problem-solving and consulting capabilities with the ability to challenge and communicate effectively in a team environment.
- MS/PhD in at least one of the following: Engineering, Econometrics, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or Chemistry.
- Demonstrated ability to apply complex mathematical and statistical solutions to business problems.
- Ability to participate on planning and selling opportunities.
- Ability to inspire confidence and work with all levels of client and internal staff.
- Ability to develop and document business processes and systems, Ability to deliver clear, concise presentations to non-scientific audience.
- High energy, clear goal orientation and strong work ethic; “can do” attitude.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Professional appearance and demeanor.
- 3+ years of systems integration, consulting, and/or software development experience ,
- Relevant industry experience is a plus: Retal, CP, Finance, Oil & Gas, Public Sector
- Experienced in balancing needs of the client base with the development plans associated with our software products and service offerings.
- Experienced in developing software to solve a business problem using at least two of the following (c++, Java, Matlab, SQL) |
